October 24 is World Polio Day

Rotarians all over the world have been working in unison to ensure that no child will ever again know the crippling effects of Polio. It has been twenty years since the last case was reported in the Americas. While India seems on track to achieve zero polio cases, frantic efforts are underway in the other polio-endemic countries. We have recently heard of the extreme case of two persons in Pakistan being arrested for refusing to vaccinate their children. On this World Polio Day, let us all rededicate ourselves to the cause and keep fighting to eradicate Polio from the face of the earth. From Rotary/RGHF: Our Foundation Newsletter, Nov. 2011.
