Bruce Aylward: How we'll stop polio for good

Polio is almost completely eradicated. But as Bruce Aylward says, “Almost isn't good enough with a disease this terrifying.” In the video posted on www.ted.com, Aylward lays out the plan to continue the scientific miracle that ended polio in most of the world -- and to snuff it out everywhere, forever. He talks about Rotary’s role in the eradication efforts.

Bruce Aylward is a Canadian physician and epidemiologist who heads the polio eradication program at the World Health Organization, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). Click here to watch the video.

As of May 31, Rotarians have raised about $174.7 million for Rotary's $200 Million Challenge to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for polio eradication.
